Hi, No, the stardard user can not create the folder in root directory unless the administrators change the setting.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Really? On my windows 7 install, authenticated users can create new folders at c:\. I've seen 2 vendors take advantage of it this week.

The default doesn't allow this. Is there a possibility that a Group Policy is over riding allowing this to happen? JamesCCA

I just installed Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit from scratch. Under security permissions for c:\, Authenticated Users have these Special permissions: Special Subfolders and files only Create folders / append data This folder only
